Ten mandarin ducks sitting on a tree..

At a frosty, frozen Deeper Marsh yesterday I was watching a dipper bobbing about on a river rock, disappearing into the river and then reappearing on another rock.

When we walked over onto the island, as the river is very low, the first things we saw were three shaggy ponies grazing away. Then, to my complete suprise, I saw a flock of mandarin ducks swimming on the river. I was even more suprised when I spotted another ten or so sitting on the bough of a tree that was overhanging the Dart. Instead of ten green bottles we had ten orange ducks. In total there must have been nearly twenty of them. They made my day!
