Dartmoor’s tatty sheep

Dartmoor is full of lambs at the moment looking as cute and bouncy as lambs always do. There are, however, some sheep looking decidedly tatty too. One breed of sheep that is out on the moor sheds it’s own fleece in the spring, saving the farmer the time and expense of rounding them up to shear them. The downside is that the gorse bushes where they are grazing look like a sheepy massacre has taken place with chunks of fleece all over the place. The poor sheep wander around for weeks looking as though they have had a poodle cut gone very wrong. Bad hair day or what!
