Spotted flycatcher family is growing up

A spotted flycatcher pair have made a nest behind a downspout between two of our bedroom windows. The brood has hatched and the parents are being kept busy feeding them. They have developed a routine for approaching the nest which I think must be designed to help keep it safe.

Baby spotted flycatchers in their nest

They start on the roof of the bird table and then when they think it’s safe fly up to the gutter or the garage roof. They they have a good look around before flying on to the nest to feed the chicks. Every time I look out of the window at the moment there seems to be one of them ontop of the bird table – it’s like being stalked by spotted flycatchers.
